All Policy, little Economics July 10, 2003 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The title of this book misleading it is. Only the chapter "Economic analysis of preferential trading areas" contains a substantial amount of economics. Other chapters are heavy on policy, historical and institutional details, presenting very little economic analysis. There are no exercises on which the students may practice. The book also suffers a variety of different writing styles (each chapter by different authors) and the facts are getting a bit out of date. Nothing on the Nice treaty, Constitutional Treaty, impact of the euro, etc. On the sunny side, the book is accessible to undergraduates with very little training in economics.
