John Locke is simply one of those academics who were the first of their time to discuss issues which we now consider to be common today and inevitably take for granted.

Examples include the separation of powers which is the now ancient idea that the Judiciary, Executive and Legislature should be totally independent from each other e.g. seperate judge, jury and executioner. If it wasn't for people like Locke we would still be prosecuted by Mr X, tried by him and executed likewise by the same man. This idea has now reduced the injustice in the western world dramatically.

Locke is also the man responsible for such ideas as freedom, human rights and equality as he was always a humanitarian. If you like to use your head and think about issues such as those above and if you believe in them you will like this book.
